WHAT IS A MUM/GARTER? 

A personalized symbol of school pride worn during the week of Homecoming and a cherished as a high school keepsake for years to come! While the specifics of the tradition vary by school, generally speaking, homecoming mums/garters in Texas are worn by students to homecoming activities including the parade, pep rally, football game, and even to class on homecoming day.

Your student will wear his/her mum/garter to school on Thursday, October 3rd and the to the football game that evening at Clark Stadium. Homecoming mums are NOT worn to the homecoming dance. You might have noticed they’re too big to dance in! However, it is often tradition to gift your dance date a mum/garter and meet before Thursday for a Mum/Garter Exchange (photo op!). The bigger the better in TEXAS!
